Wishes come from the Wishing Fountain. Every time you fill it with Warm Fuzzies, the fountain ranks up and gives you one Wish. To earn them faster, raise your Miis’ happiness as often as possible: serve foods they love, pat them, solve their problems, help them make friends and, above all, level them up – a level-up gives a big batch of Warm Fuzzies. More residents means more chances to do all of this every day.
Wishes are the key currency of progression in Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream. They unlock goods for your residents, Little Quirks, new interior sets and island decorations, Palette House design categories and the travel tickets that eventually lead to the game’s ending. Money can buy food and clothes, but almost everything that expands what you can do on the island is paid for in Wishes.
The system has three steps, and it helps to keep them separate in your head:
The fountain itself appears early, after you level up a Mii for the first time. From then on, your fountain rank is effectively your island’s long-term progress bar: higher ranks also unlock new items inside each Wish category, from additional interiors to rarer decorations. For a full rundown of the fountain’s menus, see our Wishing Fountain guide.
This is the biggest single source. Each Mii has a happiness gauge, and when it fills, that resident levels up and you receive a considerable amount of Warm Fuzzies. Anything that raises happiness is therefore indirectly working towards your next Wish.
Food is the most reliable way to raise happiness day to day. A Mii’s favourite food gives a far bigger boost than an ordinary meal, and the effect repeats every time. The catch is that preferences are individual and you discover them by trial and error, so buy new dishes from Fresh Kingdom’s Daily Specials and test them on different residents. Avoid foods a Mii dislikes: they’re the one thing that actively lowers happiness.
Each thought bubble is an opportunity. Solving yellow requests, helping with introductions and backing romances all raise happiness and can award Warm Fuzzies on the spot. If you’re not sure what each colour means, our guide to thought bubbles explains them all.
Rubbing a Mii’s head is free, takes seconds and always gives a small boost. Encouraging friendships and romances adds more, and relationship cutscenes between residents come with extra happiness of their own.
Treasures from minigames and dreams make excellent gifts and can give a large boost in one go. Clothes that match a resident’s taste also help, although usually less than a favourite food. It’s worth saving your best treasures for residents at higher levels, because each new level needs more happiness than the last.
The biggest multiplier is simply having more residents. Every extra Mii is another stomach to feed, another head to pat and another set of problems to solve, and the island can hold up to 70 of them. Growing the population steadily – one or two new Miis a day is a comfortable pace – keeps the Warm Fuzzies flowing.
Regular check-ins matter more than long sessions. Hunger and new requests build up over real time, so two short visits a day usually produce more Warm Fuzzies than one long one. A simple routine is covered in our daily checklist.
Travel tickets come with a small extra. The first ticket unlocks after you’ve spent 10 Wishes and a new one becomes available for every five Wishes after that. Each time a new ticket unlocks, you also receive one free bonus Wish.
Changing the console clock doesn’t speed anything up. The game pauses shop refreshes, Mii hunger and fountain donations for roughly 24 hours, which slows your Warm Fuzzy income instead of increasing it.
At the start, only the Level Up category is available, with goods such as a camera, a guitar and sports equipment, plus the first sets of Little Quirks. Other categories open as your island grows: interiors once T&C Reno is built, outdoor decor after you have five residents, Island Builder paths after the sixth and Palette House design categories once the Palette House is on your island. There’s no required order, so pick what helps you most right now.
| Priority | Why it’s worth it |
|---|---|
| Palette House categories | Clothing, treasures and landscaping open up custom designs, and every creation counts towards the Palette trophies |
| Little Quirks | Give residents new walking styles, eating habits and expressions, making the island feel more alive |
| T&C Reno interiors | Each unlock gives you a free copy of the set to hand to a resident |
| Travel tickets | Holidays raise happiness, strengthen relationships and bring back exclusive souvenirs |
One more tip: keep a few Wishes in reserve when a new season is about to begin. Seasonal items appear as new options at the fountain, and having Wishes ready lets you grab them as soon as they arrive.
Deposit Warm Fuzzies into the Wishing Fountain. Each time the fountain fills up, it ranks up and grants one Wish.
Levelling up a Mii gives the biggest single batch. Day to day, favourite foods, solving problems and head pats keep happiness rising.
No. Wishes only come from ranking up the Wishing Fountain, plus a bonus Wish each time a new travel ticket unlocks.
No order is required. Only Level Up is available at first; other categories open as you build shops and grow your island.
